First, you will travel by speedboat deep into the Amazon forest and discover the unique phenomenon of the Meeting of the Waters of the Rio Negro and Amazon River, or Rio Solimoes, as the upper section of the Amazon River is known in Brazil.
From here you will next swim with the legendary pink Amazonian river dolphin. These river dolphins only live in freshwater, more precisely in the Amazon and Orinoco river basin in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, and Venezuela. The Amazon River Dolphins are the largest and most widespread freshwater dolphins in the World and are a pink-grey color. They can measure up to 185 kilograms (408 pounds) and 2.5m (8.2 ft) in length. They can turn their head 180 degrees to maneuver better between the obstacles in the water and can live up to 30 years.
Experience Janauari Lake, located in Rio Negro and approximately one-hour away from Manaus. Prior to joining Abercrombie & Kent, Mr. Miller held a variety of executive positions with Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises for more than a decade. These positions included Vice President of Guest Sales & Service, Vice President of Brand Development, and Vice President of Onboard Revenue (which included shore excursions). Mr. Miller also led Celebrity Expeditions, a collection of outstanding and unique tours around the World.
Michael Bonner
Mr. Bonner has over a decade of experience working in the cruise industry in a variety of roles for both Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and Viking River Cruises. Most recently, Mr. Bonner was the Chief Operating Officer for The Scholar Ship, a Royal Caribbean program aimed at providing college students onboard educational programs in conjunction with enriching shore excursions around the world.
